The Hidden Dangers of AI-Generated Website Content You Need to Know

#2 is THE MOST IMPORTANT!!! With the rise of tools like ChatGPT, Jasper, and other AI content generators, more business owners are turning to artificial intelligence to write their website copy, blogs, and even build entire sites. While this may sound like a quick and easy solution, relying too heavily on AI can actually hurt your brand, weaken your message, drop traffic to your website and cost you customers and sales!
I have a very LOVE-HATE relationship with AI... aside from it taking credit away from artists.
Let’s talk about why AI-generated website content isn’t always the smart choice—especially if you care about standing out, connecting with your audience, and growing your business online.. and specifically for my area of expertise, growing your website and allow it to be a tool that performs OVERNIGHT while you sleep.

Now don't get me wrong, I use AI for templates and brainstorming but DO NOT.. and I repeat DO NOT straight copy content from AI tools. Especially copy. Images... it just depends on what you are using it for but with my LOVE-HATE relationship I have with AI... AI images of people is creepy and scary lol and unfortunetly, people use this option for negtive reasons instead of helpful positive reasons.... but lets get back to the topic of AI in relation to websites ;-)
1. AI Content Lacks Emotional Connection and Authenticity
Your website is often your first impression. It should feel personal, trustworthy, and reflective of your brand values. AI tools, while powerful, can’t fully replicate human emotion or intuition.
According to a study by Salesforce, 84% of customers say being treated like a person, not a number, is very important to winning their business. - I can vouch for this! I worked for a large corporation for almost 10 years and the reason I left was being I quickly become LESS than a number when the company under went some major changes.
Your viewers and clients can "smell" AI content and that triggers to them, that you did not put in any effort or real passion in what you are offering. I will click off a website that smells like fake AI content or marketing. Period. -I don't want fake.
Again, AI for ideas and brainstorming or templates to get your inspired is a good idea but anything more than that... bad idea.
✨ When we work together on your website, we may use AI to generate ideas or templates to fill in with YOUR content but we will never straight copy content from AI. Ever. For my clients that create majoriy of their content on their own, I always advise NOT to copy from AI. Our goal is to make your website authentic to YOU and your BRAND - again, your viewers and clients can "Smell" it...
2. Google Can Spot AI Content...And Will Penalize It
Google’s Helpful Content Update is designed to reward websites that are "written by people, for people." Over-relying on AI can trigger spam signals or cause your site to rank lower in search results because search engines' "crawlers" or "bots" that scope out webistes and report the details back to the search engine, like Google, will report back that this site is a "bot" - spam, non-legit and/or irrelevant.
🔍 In a 2023 Google Search Central blog, Google states:
“Using automation—including AI—to generate content with the primary purpose of manipulating ranking in search results is a violation of our spam policies.”

Translation: If your content feels robotic or irrelevant to users, it WILL hurt your SEO.. which means your website will not show up on Google Searches to your ideal client because Google has deemed your website to be a "bot" or fake.

3. AI Can Spread Inaccurate or Outdated Information
AI tools are only as good as the data they’re trained on...and they often don't know what’s true or false. They can pull outdated statistics, make assumptions, or even plagiarize unintentionally. That’s risky for your reputation! Especially for Googles Helpful Content that we just talked about in #2. If your information is false, you no longer look like the authority in this field and can not be trusted.
I have found MANY flaws in the factual information that AI has given me. AI is NOT ALWAYS CORRECT... ill repeat that over and over.
