Client Exclusive Resource

Hey, hey!

I am always keeping an eye on the latest updates in the digital world so you don’t have to and Google just dropped a big one: the Helpful Content Update.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what it means for your website and how you and I can make sure you stay on Googles "good side":

🌟 What Is the Helpful Content Update?

Google's goal with this update is simple: prioritize content that is written for humans, not algorithms. They're cracking down on content that feels generic, keyword-stuffed, or AI-generated without substance.

If your sites content is full of meaningful, original, and relevant content, you’re in good shape.

🚩 What Google Is Looking to Avoid

Here’s what doesn’t fly with this new update:

  • Pages filled with fluff just to rank on search engines

  • AI-written content that lacks a personal touch or real value

  • Duplicate content or “rewrites” of what’s already out there

  • Blogs that don’t answer real user questions or offer clear takeaways

  • "Clickbait" type content that doesn't actually provide value

✅ Best Practices Going Forward

To stay aligned with this update, here’s what we need to prioritize going forward:

  • Human-first content: Writing that sounds natural, helpful, and authentic like a conversation, not a textbook.

  • Original value: Whether it's blog posts, service pages, or FAQs, aim to answer your audience’s specific questions, not just rewrite what’s already online.

  • Clear purpose per page: Every page on your site should have a job to inform, inspire, or convert. No filler.

  • Avoiding AI-generated content - this doesn't mean you can't use ChatGPT, it just means not to copy and paste from there. Reword the ideas you get from AI. (but AI images are still a NO GO!)

🛠 What You Can Do

Things you can do when you have time:

  • Review the content on your website - all pages and blog posts, to be sure that it fits the criteria that Google is now looking for and let me know where to make adjustments where you see fit but also makes sense to your line of business.

Here are some good questions to consider when reviewing your content:

  1.  Does this content speak directly to my ideal client or audience?

  2.  Does it answer a specific question, problem, or need they have?

  3.  Is the tone consistent with my brand voice (warm, professional, casual, etc.)?

  4.  Is this content original (not copied, spun, or overly inspired by competitors)?

  5.  Am I offering real insights, experience, or expertise, not just generic info?

  6.  Are there personal examples, case studies, or stories that make it unique?

*****If you make any update to your content, let me know so that I can check behind you to be sure your layout still flows and everything is still functioning as it should!
